In addition to unidentified photos, the historical society also receives photos of people who are identified, but whose connection to Decatur County is not known.

Written on the back: “Dickie Smith - April 12, 1932.”
There is no Dickie Smith living in Decatur County in the
1930 census, but there is a Richard A. Smith living in nearby Rushville, the
son of Artie and Lois Smith. Artie reported that he was a
hotel proprietor in Rushville, Indiana. He was also a World War I veteran. Artie
and Lois had two children: Mary Louise, born in 1920, and Richard A., born in
1924. In 1940, this family shows up in Montgomery, Indiana (Scott County),
where Artie was a farmer.
