Before the county schools were consolidated, the seven township schools competed each year to win the basketball tourney. They were the Burney Panthers, St. Paul Blasters, Jackson Tigers, Sandusky Blackhawks, Sandcreek Indians, Clarksburg Knights and the New Point Little Giants.
The article mentions Jackson's star player, Maurice Houze and St. Paul's high-scoring Bob Perry, who passed away in 1979.
