Greensburg Dairy Queen in the 1950's

Carolyn Glass, a family historian with Decatur County roots, has shared this fun collection of photos taken at Greensburg's Dairy Queen in the 1950's. Do you recognize any of the unidentified people?


Dick Lay, unidentified, Richard W. Glass

Carolyn reports that her grandfather Richard W. Glass was employed by Paul Barringer at the Greensburg Dairy Queen from April 1952-September 1953. Richard was born 1 April 1937 in Greensburg, the son of Arthur and Carrie Glass. After graduating from Greensburg High School in 1955, he married Clara (Kohrman) Rathburn on 27 December 1956. Richard served in the Marine Corps with tours of duty in Japan and Vietnam. He passed away 2 February 2004 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, and was buried in South Park Cemetery in Greensburg.
