The
1942-43 high school basketball season was a tough one. The world was
focused on WWII, tires and gasoline were rationed, and many coaches were
serving in the military. In fact, five of the seven county school teams
were coached by the school principal. Principal James Clements led the
New Point Little Giants to their first county tourney win on January 30,
1943 - 70 years ago today. Senior players were Earl Beagle, Marion
Marsh, Floyd Milburn, Bennie Thackery, and Robert Thackery.
